UNITED KINGDOM / ABC News — When a seal researcher took a dive in the North Sea, he caught a ‘seal-iously’ cute moment on camera.
Diver Ben Burville, an underwater cameraman from the United Kingdom, met a friendly seal on a recent dive. She swam right up to him and wrapped her flipper around his head.
“Even wild seals sometimes want a hug,” Burville said.
Grey seals can dive to depths of 1,560 feet for as long as one hour, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
On average, they eat four to six percent of their body weight in food each day. They often hunt in groups, catching sand eels, hake, whiting, cod, haddock, pollock, crustaceans, squid, octopuses, and sometimes even seabirds.
