A special road sealing project is underway between Emporia and Olpe.
The Lyon County Highway Department is fog-sealing Road 130 between Kansas Highway 99 and Road T. Fog seal uses an asphalt emulsion to help restore pavement surfaces and can be used to delay other types of surface treatment or even new pavement overlays.
Flaggers are in the area, but the Highway Department asks residents to avoid that stretch of Road 130 for Wednesday afternoon. Traffic has to stay off a fog-sealed area for at least an hour for the treatment to be effective.
