The Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency will be awarded to 15 Queen Creek High School seniors on their graduation diploma.

This is the first year of the seal and it is awarded by the state’s Department of Education. The seal is in recognition of student achievements in music, dance, visual art, theater and media arts, according to a release.

Typically, seniors present their Fine Arts Capstone project at a live event. This year the Bulldogs had to present their work digitally in the form of a website due to school closures.

Despite the unprecedented challenge, these students demonstrated their commitment to the Arts and worked through the difficulty of learning new skills like creating websites and using digital resources that were unfamiliar to many of them, the release states.

Statewide, 585 seniors from 22 Arizona school districts will have this new seal on their diploma.
