Road work ahead as Nobles County seal coats its paved roads - The Globe

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

WORTHINGTON — In order to maintain the Nobles County's paved road system, Fahrner Asphalt Sealers LLC has been hired to seal coat about 107 miles of the county's highway system starting in mid-July or in August.

The project will likely last about eight to nine weeks.

While the contractor is installing the seal coat surface the public may experience 10 to 15-minute delays. Traffic will be directed by pilot car in all active work areas.

For the first couple of weeks following the seal coat installation traffic speeds will be limited to 40 miles per hour. Freshly laid rock chips used for seal coating are more easily dislodged during this period when traveling at higher speeds. Motorists using these routes are traveling at their own risk, and if they experience vehicle damage caused by these road hazards, they are liable for it.

The maintenance is necessary for improving and prolonging the integrity of the county roadways, said Nobles County Engineer Aaron Holmbeck.
