A Tuscany villa-style mansion has set the Seal Beach record for highest-priced sale at $11.69 million.
The 8,646-square-foot house rises from a rare double beachfront lot and spreads across three stories serviced by an elevator or spiral staircase. Completed in 2004, it has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a gym that can double as a seventh bedroom, as it has a full bathroom and steam shower.
According to Multiple Listing Service data, the March 11 sale — down 6.5% from the $12.5 million ask sought in November — bests the previous record high of $8.2 million several doors down in this desirable neighborhood. That four-bedroom, 5,370-square-foot contemporary-style home on the sand sold in July 2021.
“Seal Beach has protected and maintained its small beach-town feel through good planning, great schools and a friendly business environment that all work closely together,” co-listing agent Tim Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty said. “It also benefits from a location that is flanked on two sides by environmentally protected coastal habitat and one of the nicest sandy beaches and wave breaks in Southern California.”
Located on the northwestern end of Orange County, Seal Beach claims the second-longest wooden pier in California. The pier was restored more than once, including after heavy surf smashed sections in 1983 and fire damaged it in 1992 and 1994.
Scenic views of Seal Beach Pier to Catalina Island abound from inside and outside this home, with its character-defining elements. There are imported French roof tiles, iron entry gates, and salvaged antique doors and bathroom vanities.
Copper sinks and marble countertops grace the gourmet kitchen fitted with top-of-the-line appliances, some in multiples of a kind, including two Sub-Zero refrigerators and six freezers.
French doors plunge the living and dining areas in natural light and extend the interior onto the expansive balcony overlooking the pool and spa terrace.
The grounds include a courtyard and lush landscape planted with dwarf fruit trees, including orange, lime, persimmon and papaya.
A four-car garage with a 220-volt car charger completes the luxurious home.
Smith shared the listing with Andy Dane Carter of Coldwell Banker Realty. Garrett Weston of Compass represented the buyer.
