A Marine rescue organization in Canada has gone viral online after sharing an adorable video of the sounds seal pups make.

Marine Mammal Rescue gained over 6 million views with the post, capturing the loud noises made by seal pups in their weaning phase. "Did you know that baby harbour seals can be very vocal? Have a listen," they captioned the post.

The seal pups created a variety of noises, including gasp-like sounds and gurgling noises, as they subtly moved around the camera frame—all while melting millions of hearts.

"This has single handedly cured my anxiety today," commented one TikTok user.

"My cat ignores all cat sounds on here, but this one got his attention," commented another, noting the cross-species power of the seal's adorable sounds.

The video can also be seen in full here.

In general, harbor seals tend to create noise during two phases of life—as a pup and during the mating season. According to studies, male harbor seals create underwater vocalizations to attract females during mating seasons. Using their sounds, they defend their territories against other males and display to females in the area too. The sounds adults make are described as a "roar" with a frequency of around 1.2 kHz.

Harbor seals can however make sounds in-air too, including barks, honks, growls, grunts and even mother to pup contact calls. Mothers and pups will use sounds to stay in contact with one another, with pups able to make calls that can be heard up to a kilometer away.

During the first few weeks of their lives, pups will make a "maa" sound, but this tends to diminish after the nursing phase which lasts around four weeks.

Despite looking cute enough to squeeze, it's not only advised not to, but it's actually against the law. The Marine Mammal Protection Act rules it is illegal to touch or harass harbor seals in the U.S. The pups are often left on the shore by their moms during the nursing weeks in order to forage alone, but will not return until they can no longer see humans around the pup.

If the pup is moved or touched, even by those thinking they are helping it, it increases the risk of the mother abandoning them.

Those who have fallen in love with the adorable seal pups through their phone screen however can get a closer look at Marine Mammal Rescue with their Twitch account which live streams from their rescue enclosure.
