Fog sealing work continues on Road 130 from near the Emporia Municipal Airport towards Neosho Rapids.
The Lyon County Highway Department announced a fog seal work zone Wednesday and has another one Thursday. Work starts at Road M and moves east to Road T outside Chicago Mound Cementer, then moves south on Road T to Road 110 and finishes at the Road U intersection.
Traffic has to stay off a fog-sealed area for at least an hour for the treatment to be effective. Flaggers are in the area to help drivers get through the work zone.
Fog seal uses an asphalt emulsion to help restore pavement surfaces and can be used to delay other types of surface treatment or even new pavement overlays.
