FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FDA just gave the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine their seal of approval, but does this change the minds of people still on the fence about getting the shot?

COVID-19 cases are soaring, with another record set Monday at Lee Health. Hospital officials said 629 COVID patients are in their hospitals, as of the latest data release.
It just so happens to be the same day Pfizer got the ultimate green light from the FDA. Even with the final approval, it’s still not enough for some to lift up their sleeve.
“I don’t feel like I should put something in my body to prevent something I don’t have yet,” said Kayla James, who is against the vaccine.
She is worried about infertility. The side effects some people get after their shot also concern her.

Schaber, who works in the medical field and got his shot back in March, said his wife doesn’t want to get it because she feels it’s unsafe. He thinks Monday’s thumbs up from the feds gives him a little more muscle to sway his wife towards vaccination.“I have a better argument for her,” he said. “I’m not sure that she still will do it.”
For some though, the go-ahead is a big change. Michael Dawson used to think he didn’t need the shot.
“Cause I use a lot of sanitizer and keep my house clean,” he explained.
He now realizes that just might not be enough, especially with loved ones on the line. Dawson now has a new answer to whether or not he’s getting vaccinated.
“Oh yeah. Yeah, I would. Yeah, I would,” he said.
