Last year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons did a lot of things right - but Bunny Day wasn't one of them. The popular game has been a beacon of hope to many players during the era of staying-at-home, but now Bunny Day is once again on the horizon, threatening to ruin everything players love about the game. Here's when Bunny Day is happening this year, and how players can hope to avoid it if they want.
After almost a year, Animal Crossing's dreaded Bunny Day event is returning, which has plenty of players feeling a bit dismayed. In an otherwise incredible year for New Horizons, Bunny Day in 2020 was a bit of a misstep. Zipper T. Bunny, the Easter-inspired mascot of Bunny Day, looks like something out of Five Nights at Freddy's or Donnie Darko, but it's not just this creepy character that has fans unenthusiastically awaiting Bunny Day's arrival.
The Bunny Day debacle was mostly due to the egg hunt, the gimmick behind the event. The eggs spawned much too frequently, making it nearly impossible to get the materials players actually wanted. Animal Crossing fans hated this so much that Nintendo even patched in an emergency update last year to lower the frequency of eggs appearing in New Horizons. Thankfully, ahead of Bunny Day's impending arrival, Nintendo has given players plenty of warning to prepare themselves this year.
Animal Crossing's Bunny Day: When Eggs Will Start Showing Up
According to a recent tweet form the official Animal Crossing: New Horizons account on Twitter, Bunny Day will officially begin on April 4th, 2021. Starting on March 28th, though, players will be able to find event-themed items in Nook's Cranny. However, it appears that the eggs actually won't start appearing until April 4th. As usual for Animal Crossing updates, this will happen at midnight of a player's time zone.
Hopefully, Animal Crossing has learned from New Horizons' Bunny Day debacle and eggs won't appear so frequently in the game this year. For players hoping to avoid the event altogether, there isn't a way to stop eggs from showing up. Players can choose to ignore Zipper T. Bunny all they want, but his eggs will still appear. The only real option is to sit the game down until Bunny Day is over.
So far, it's unclear what all items will be a part of Bunny Day this year. For those dreading the event and looking to avoid it, Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Bunny Day starts on April 4th, 2021, although some items will start showing up at Nook's Cranny on March 28th.
