SEAL BEACH, CA — It's been a long time coming, but Seal Beach and Los Alamitos residents are finally going to see some measurable rainfall this weekend, the National Weather Service predicts. Dramatically cooler temperatures are expected overnight into the weekend, as rain is expected through Sunday.

See those high, thin clouds this morning? Those cirrus formations lead in the tropical storm Odayls from far away, the NWS reports.

Thursday's warm, summer-like weather will give way to lower temperatures, some as great as 20 degrees cooler in spots. Windy weather is also expected, the NWS says.

"The contrast between a hot day Thursday and a very cool day Saturday is like moving from summer to winter, NWS spokesman Alexander Tardy tells Patch.

Rain will slam into the region, striking Orange County with anywhere from a half-inch to 1.5 inches in the mountain areas.

Wet weather will stick around throughout much of the weekend, with anywhere from a tenth of an inch to a half-inch across much of the Los Angeles basin. The valley areas could see from a tenth-of-an-inch to a quarter-inch of rain, the NWS reports.

Better batten down those hatches, everyone.

With that storm also comes the wind, which along the Orange County coastal communities would see gusts from 30 to 40 miles per hour, with similar coastal gusts expected in Santa Monica. The NWS predicts upwards of 45 miles per hour in the Malibu area on Saturday.

Temperatures were expected to reach 94 degrees in Anaheim, Thursday would drop down to 61, Saturday, he says. Similarly, coastal temperatures in San Clemente and Irvine, at 79 and 89 on Thursday would drop to 58 and 62 degrees, respectively.

In Simi Valley, Santa Clarita and Burbank, temperatures of 89 on Saturday would plummet by 30 degrees to 58 - 59 degrees, the NWS expected.

No advisories or warnings have been issued as of this report due to this storm.

Cooler air is expected to hang around throughout the coming week. Thursday's hot temperatures will be the last of the summer-like weather pattern for the foreseeable future.
