The first episode of Autumnwatch 2020 aired on BBC Two last night (Tuesday 27th October), giving us a much-needed dose of live wildlife updates from all over the UK.
The hour-long show came with some heartwarming content, including the birth of a grey seal pup. Standing behind binoculars on the Isle Of May, Michaela Strachan watched the beautiful colony of fluffy white seals — and saw one mother welcome her newborn.
"That one has literally just been born! What an incredible thing to see," Michaela said. "I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my day on the Isle of May."
In a first for the series, the team will be watching the seals throughout the coming weeks. So if last night's episode had you yearning for more seal content, they will be back.
And it's not just Michaela who was taken aback by the gorgeous footage. Over on Twitter, one viewer said: "Loved seeing the grey seals on the Isle of May and Tentsmuir such brilliant animals excited to follow them this #Autumnwatch," while another posted: "Love that #AutumnWatch is back. And those seals!"

Elsewhere in the show, we also saw Chris Packham present live from the New Forest with his step-daughter, Meghan McCubbin. As well as shocking viewers by talking about French kissing a fox, Chris also shared some interesting facts about badgers and watched as the golden colours of autumn transformed his garden.
