WEST NYACK, NY — Clarkstown police report a scam-based burglary on Jeffrey Court in West Nyack on Monday.
The homeowner told police that a stranger approached her residence asking if he and his grandchildren could seal her driveway for $28.
She described the members of the group: the "grandfather" with a medium complexion, 60-70 years old and 5'5" tall; the "grandson" a light skinned 15-16 year-old, 6' tall; and two "granddaughters," one in her 30s and the other about 17.
As the two men began working on the driveway, the two women walked to the rear of the residence with the homeowner.
She then heard her doorbell ring and walked through the house to see who was there.
It was the "grandfather," who began to engage her in conversation.
Police believe it was at that time that the two women entered through the rear door and removed several pieces of jewelry from a bedroom.
They all then left the location in a black pick-up truck.
Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Clarkstown Detective Bureau at (845)639-5800.
