The next legacy tech trap is here – how can banks avoid it? - Retail Banker International

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

The pace of change in financial services is accelerating due to the growth of new digital channels, technological capabilities, and an increasing array of vendors. No corner of financial services today is untouched by these changes.

As a result, there are now major opportunities for growth. Financial organisations that can innovate and offer smarter, better, faster financial products and services that are relevant to both consumers and business customers alike will achieve greater competitive differentiation, revenue growth and market share.

However, the demand for innovation poses a significant resource management challenge – one made worse by an ongoing reliance on legacy architecture and an extremely competitive market for technical staff.

So how can financial institutions (FIs) rapidly innovate and avoid the next legacy tech trap?

The pace of change is fast and the generational gap is wide

FIs are struggling to keep up with evolving customer expectations for new and innovative products and services.

A major reason is due to generational differences in willingness to adopt new technology emerging in the financial services industry, with millennials being more open to using new technologies and partnering with fintech companies. Aite-Novarica Group research indicates that 70% of millennial-run SMEs currently partner with a non-bank fintech company for some form of financial service capability. This compares to only 30% of boomer- and senior-run SMEs reporting that they are currently working with a nonbank fintech provider.

Non-banks can either be a threat or friend to banks. Banks need to change the fintech delivery model to encompass embedded finance so they can enable non-banks rather than risk being disintermediated by them.

The difficult fork in the road to innovation

FIs face challenges in innovating and launching new products and services due to limited resources and sourcing technology talent remains a major challenge. Despite changes in how vendors work, many FIs still prefer internal development, but this resource-intensive approach is not scalable and risks creating new technical debt. As technology becomes more interconnected, data-driven, and cloud-based, bespoke solutions risk becoming the next form of legacy platform that does not integrate well with other emerging technologies and services.

When it comes to looking externally for partners, this brings its own challenges. Many organisations lack the internal resources to manage these partnerships efficiently. As a result, FIs tend to rely on a small handful of vendor partners, limiting their access to innovative capabilities and best-in-class providers. Legal and commercial agreements can further compound these challenges. Overall, managing these relationships remains an intensive and multistep process that requires the right internal skill set and processes.

Replacing the core won’t fix everything

Many FIs are turning to core replacement as a key part of their modernisation and innovation strategies. However, this process is complex and risky, with three primary strategies: full rip-and-replace, greenfield launch, and wrap-around or core-hollowing. While modernising the core can provide greater flexibility and security, each approach has its own challenges and potential disruptions. Core replacement is not a silver bullet solution to fixing innovation challenges in the financial industry.

Although core modernisation is important for FIs, it can draw attention and resources away from new product and service deployments and innovations. Much like the legacy infrastructure it is intended to replace, FI core modernisation programs are unique in their implementation and prone to significant challenges—even outright failures. Moreover, it is typically time consuming, sometimes taking years – this is time banks can’t afford to lose. FIs need to innovate fast to keep up with market demands and customer expectations.

McKinsey reports that only 30% of core banking system transformations are successful in fully migrating ledgers and products to a new system. Additionally, core modernisation programs that inadequately plan for connectivity and interoperability across the stack lower their innovation efficiency and effectiveness. Therefore, it is important for FIs to find ways to innovate rapidly and immediately in parallel with broader infrastructure initiatives.

Paving the path to innovation

New approaches to rolling out financial technology – fintech enablement platforms – provide FIs with the ability to innovate and launch digital products and services without sacrificing existing infrastructure. This approach includes pre-built components, data models, and software-as-a-service ecosystem connectors, which can be quickly deployed to accelerate the launch of financial solutions and new customer journeys.

Crucial to success are platforms that can provide the security assurances and compatibility FIs require in their broader infrastructure. Plug-and-play solutions from third-party vendors and emerging fintechs can often lead to due diligence problems in terms of legal and technical compliance. These risks can be reduced when FIs have the tools to develop and manage innovations and new customer journeys themselves.

The recent growth of no-and low-code capabilities further adds to the potential benefits of fintech enablement platforms, empowering less technically adept staff to handle development and a more iterative flexible design approach.

Embedded finance and open banking are driving the need for FIs to shape unique customer journeys with potential partners. Fintech enablement platforms provide the tools necessary to build innovation in flexible and agile ways that can use, but are not reliant on, existing infrastructure. This helps break down technology silos, increases speed to market, facilitates innovation, and provides a more customer-centric approach to products and services.

Why banks need to avoid the new legacy trap

The barrier to success is legacy technology and escaping the legacy trap requires FIs to adapt their business models to enable innovation. Delivering features in the legacy-rich incumbent banking environment is risky, slow, and expensive. The path to modernisation is complex and it’s therefore vital for FIs to not fall into yet another legacy tech trap that has already held them back for so many years.

FIs need to be ready for quick market shifts and new fintech enablement approaches provide the capabilities to modernise, innovate, and manage their products and customer journeys in a more rapid way, providing a clear competitive advantage.

What’s The Bristle Reaction And Can You Actually Avoid It? - Yahoo News

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com
bristle reaction
bristle reaction

‘The Bristle Reaction’ is all over TikTok and all the long-term lovers are finally feeling seen. In a sentence, the bristle reaction is that feeling of tensing up – or ‘bristling’- when your partner tries to touch you.

Author and licensed sex therapist Vanessa Marin coined the term ‘the bristle reaction’. The term, which has gained over 106 million views on TikTok, is stirring up conversation about the confusing feelings around physical touch in committed, long-term relationships. Marin took to TikTok to speak about the all-too-familiar sensation of navigating unwanted physical affection by a partner. Many commented that they were glad to learn they are not alone in loving someone but reacting so negatively to their touch.

What’s the deal with the Bristle Reaction?

According to Marin, the longer we are in a relationship, the less natural it feels to initiate sexual intimacy. There is something about spending more time with a partner that shifts sex. This shift is actually pretty natural and nothing to feel bad about. In fact, Marin goes on to define the bristle reaction as “when you become so hyper-vigilant to your partner’s touch or kisses that you actually can feel yourself bristle.”

Beyond TikTok, Marin expands on the topic on her website. Having mismatched sex-drives is also responsible for shunning sexual touch.

“Typically the higher sex drive partner (let’s call them the higher) ends up initiating more frequently. The lower sex drive partner (let’s call them the lower) is on the lookout for how the higher initiates, so they can shut things down as quickly as possible,” Marin explained.

How long is too long without sex in a relationship?

How sex is initiated is at the heart of the bristle reaction. In the earlier stages of a relationship there is still a lot to discover and a seemingly endless list of sexy ways to do so. Long-term relationships usually lack this level of curiosity. Long-term lovers are pretty-much all experimented-out and understandably have a different reaction to sex.

Being on the same page about sex drive is the aim while soothing long-term sex life patterns. Rather than questioning ‘how long is too long without sex?’, you’re better off focusing on how to confidently ask for and/or receive intimate pleasure. Communicating desires for sex in a way that is well-received will instill more willingness to engage in sex and will dictate the frequency of your sex life.

Avoiding The Bristle Reaction

People rarely talk about maintaining intimacy in long-term relationships. Perhaps the assumption here is that intimacy is a given the longer you’re in a relationship. Most suppose that after declaring your love or affection, intimacy naturally follows. The bristle reaction says otherwise. This is what you can do to avoid the bristle reaction effectively.

Have an open discussion about how you do and don’t like to be touched

Marin’s first tip is to have a healthy conversation about how you like to be touched. Marin also suggests using sex maps and allowing for a clear way to rediscover your partner’s (ever-evolving) pleasure points.

Regular non-sexual touch as a remedy

Creating structured non-sexual “touch time,” as Marin calls it, is a great way to normalize touch beyond sex. This a perfect way for the higher and the lower to reestablish and reset ideas about touch. Some non-sexual touch ideas include playing with each others hair, hand-holding, massages, or cuddling.

Switch up your initiation style

Initiating sex using roundabout ways such as extending the kiss longer can be off-putting according to Marin. Avoiding the bristle reaction is all about taking the awkwardness out of approaching sex as a long-term pair. One suggestion that Marin presents is by agreeing with your partner to only initiate sex verbally for a period in order to prepare the mind for sex.

Patience on the journey to redefining your sex life

Another 21Ninety tip is to lean into patience romance. It may take a while for your new routines to truly settle. Allow for a little grace, a little understanding, and lots of romance regardless. Affirm the romance in other ways until you find a great balance that works for both of you.

Why Plagiarism Is Termed as the Biggest Academic Misconduct ... - Eye On Annapolis

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

Academic misconduct involves malpractice that puts academic values at stake and gives rise to a culture where people try to bypass each other through vile means.

As a result, undeserving people take an unfair advantage over those who strive to put academic values in front.

Numerous types of academic misconduct include cheating, plagiarism, document alteration, getting access to the material before it’s due, or helping your friends and colleagues enjoy the perks that don’t belong to them.

However, the academic misconduct discouraged ferociously by people of all ages in academia is plagiarism. There are various reasons behind it.

This blog post will discuss those causes and describe how this act can be tackled effectively to make academics progress positively.

Why Plagiarism Is Confronted Strongly

Plagiarism is imitating others’ words, ideas, articles, or assignments without formally attributing them.

It is disliked highly in all academic circles due to the following reasons:

Deprives People of Their Hard Work

Plagiarism has multiple consequences, but the biggest and the most horrifying one is that it denies hardworking individuals the benefits and profits they deserve.

It is so because different individuals who believe in shortcuts use their work and present that as theirs to reach higher ranks.

Consequently, those who put their heart and soul into their work aren’t recognized.

It breaks their dedication and brings those individuals to the top tier who don’t know how to manage things effectively.

Thus, academic institutes’ overall credibility shatters, which can have long-term consequences for their integrity.

Brings Down the Research Quality

Plagiarism is questioned intensely because it also becomes a cause of compromising research quality in academia.

As a result, people fail to find something exciting and valuable to read to enlighten themselves on different themes and subjects.

It is because when plagiarism is not dealt with seriously, no one prefers to put in the hard yards to develop unique and novel ideas.

Rather than that, everyone tries to copy-paste ideas from different sources to complete their tasks like assignments, research articles, and thesis, as they feel that this way, a degree would be awarded to them without making much effort.

That’s why it is the teachers, tutors, and supervisors’ utmost responsibility to ensure the production of plagiarism-free work.

Creates a Barrier to Mutual Development

No one agrees to give space to plagiarism in academia because it prevents the creation of a culture where students and research scholars can grow together.

It is so because when academic individuals fear that others will imitate their ideas if they share with them without prior permission or giving due credit, they don’t indulge in scholarly debates.

As a result, they try to grow themselves in alienation, which doesn’t do any good for anyone.

Therefore, academic stakeholders must devise conduct that provides a pathway for everyone to get involved in a culture of mutual development to improve the overall standing of academia.

How to Avoid Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is a very problematic concern because it damages academic integrity and puts a big question mark on the standing of people in academia.

That’s why it is essential to control this virulent infection from spreading into the lines of academic institutes to keep the standards high.

Undoubtedly, detecting plagiarism is difficult due to the availability of tools due to technological advancements that can bypass any scanning measure.

Nevertheless, the following are some basic steps that academic institutes and stakeholders can take to oppose this threat.

Revamp the Academic Integrity Policies

It is the first measure that must be taken to eradicate plagiarism from academia.

It means that the authorities of academic institutes should sit together and create a solid academic integrity policy that should give birth to some fear inside those who use vile means to progress.

Then, considering several tools and techniques that can be used to expose, they should revamp previous policies to add new tenets that allow them to put work under more tightening scrutiny.

That’s the scenario because the old standards are elementary to meet with the help of different content production tools.

Therefore, it is the need of the hour to rebuild academic integrity policies to bring originality back to academics.

Integrate Technology to Determine Quality

Academic institutes and authorities should also strive to integrate technology among their ranks to oppose the potentially hazardous effects of plagiarism.

They must facilitate supervisors and students with advanced AI-based tools such as a free plagiarism checker and AI-content detection tools to help them scan work submitted by students to find out the level of quality it holds.

It is necessary because most students and academic scholars rely on help from different sources instead of doing their work themselves.

They copy ideas from various sites and platforms, rephrase them to make them unique, and submit that to their teachers.

Moreover, some individuals use AI tools. They provide prompts to such tools, get content from them, modify that by making a few changes, and submit it.

Thus, when supervisors and teachers access tools like a plagiarism detector and an AI-detection tool, they can instantly pass the submitted work through them to calculate how much effort students put into their work.

Take Strict Actions Against Culprits

It is another mandatory step that academic institutes should take to evade plagiarism in this prestigious field.

Creating examples out of culprits is necessary because that will announce that the factor of accountability is there and no one is above the rules and regulations.

As a result, every individual will think a thousand times before misguiding the system to reach a hallmark.

Therefore, if any individual is found guilty of plagiarizing others’ work or ideas, they must be expelled from their institute.

Not just that, they should not be allowed to get admission to any other institute.

It will give a hard lesson for the students and researchers to follow.

Consequently, all will avoid plagiarism once a few examples are set. Thus, the standard of education will reach new heights when everyone works hard to produce quality work.

Conclusion

Plagiarism is nothing less than a serious crime. That’s why it is not accepted in an environment that tends to achieve excellence and brilliance. Therefore, it is termed the biggest academic misconduct, so everyone tries to avoid getting their name tainted.

What causes hormonal imbalance and how to avoid it? - GMA News Online

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

Hormones are the chemicals in your body that you make naturally, but once you have too much or too little of them—a condition called hormonal imbalance— it disrupts the functions of your organs.

In Rica Peralejo's vlog titled "Things I Wish I Knew about the Female Body," she talked to Dr. Sheree Bondoc, a board-certified fellow in Metabolic, Nutritional, and Functional Medicine, to discuss what hormonal imbalance is and how it affects one's overall well-being.

According to Dr. Bondoc, hormones are the body's chemicals that regulate the organs. In other words, they tell your body how to do things, so keeping the hormones in our body balanced and steady is essential. But how do we do that?

Dr. Bondoc said several factors contribute to disrupting good hormonal health, but the most common are poor diet and exercise.

"Your organs are very dependent on what you eat, on what you're exposed to, so diet, lifestyle, habits, even medications that you take affect these hormone organs," she said.

"Another factor is sleep. Sleep is a way for your body to repair. When you don't get enough of that, your organs don't repair well, and then the next day, it doesn't perform well," she added.

When you're experiencing hormonal imbalance, some symptoms include fatigue, low energy, and brain fog.

In order to have optimal hormonal health, Dr. Bondoc advised returning to the basics of good health.

"Start with a good diet. Hindi naman kailangan na strict, just avoid too much sugar and processed food as much as possible," the doctor said.

"And then move, not necessarily that you must exercise every day. Just move and walk at least 15 minutes a day," she added.

Dr. Bondoc is one of the doctors in The Core Clinic, where Moira Dela Torre got herself checked about her hormonal imbalance. Dr. Bondoc was also the doctor who guided Moira on the lifestyle changes she has made toward her wellness journey.

Don't let the dreaded 'Disney rash' derail your vacation: Experts ... - KSLTV

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report found that more than 15% of American adults are physically inactive. Additionally, according to the Mayo Clinic, they walk only 3,000 to 4,000 steps, on average, daily. That’s less than 20% of the recommended minimum amount of movement.

Between increasing remote work and a rise in jobs that require people to be in front of a computer all day, Americans have become more sedentary.

So what happens when Americans visit a Disney theme park and take 20,000 steps or more a day in hot, humid weather? Many get “Disney rash.”

If you plan on visiting Disney or any other theme park in a warm climate, here’s what you can do to prevent it and what items you should bring to treat it.

Disney rash isn’t actually a rash

It is a nickname for exercise-induced vasculitis (EIV). This condition also happens to runners, dancers, hikers, golfers, swimmers, or simply those standing for long periods in warm climates and heat.

“When the body goes through a vigorous, active period, like prolonged walking, running, or playing sports, it creates an imbalance in the normal functioning of the vascular system,” said Dr. Sony Sherpa. “This leads to swollen and weakened capillaries, which can lead to redness and discomfort.”

“These painful, red or purple splotches appear on areas of the skin not covered by clothing and last anywhere from 3-10 days,” added Catherine Burger, chief nursing officer. “It appears in people who typically are not active yet suddenly spend hours walking in hot or humid weather.”

“Although the exact cause of this condition is unknown, some scientists think that the combination of heat exposure and exercise can damage both muscle fibers and blood vessels, leading to the development of a rash,” said Dr. Kelly Johnson-Arbor, board-certified emergency medicine physician.

Fortunately, it isn’t dangerous or life-threatening and usually disappears on its own. However, it can cause an uncomfortable feeling of itchiness, stinging sensation, or even pain.

If you get the Disney rash, it will most likely stick around long enough to put a damper on your trip to the happiest place on earth.

How can you prepare for a Disney trip to prevent it?

A lack of regular exercise combined with the sheer size of theme parks and the Florida heat is a recipe for disaster. Disney’s Magic Kingdom is 142 acres, and Animal Kingdom, Disney’s largest park, is over 500 acres.

“If your body is not used to prolonged periods of walking, especially in the heat, you are more likely to end up with EIV. Start a daily walking routine a few months before your trip and slowly increase your distances to tolerance,” recommended Dr. Peter J. Scordilis, a certified chiropractic sports physician at Scordilis Health and Performance Center.

“If you live in a cold climate, it is better to perform these workouts indoors so the temperature is closer to what you will experience in Florida.

“Preparing your body, especially your blood vessels, will reduce the risk of inflammation due to overexertion. You can also perform some gentle lower body mobility exercises to prepare your ankles and calves for the increased movement,” added Scordilis.

What should I pack to help prevent Disney rash?

While the exact cause of the condition is unknown, and there is no foolproof way to prevent it, experts recommend wearing the following items to give you a leg up against the Disney rash:

  • Compression socks: Published research shows that EIV and vein challenges are connected, so wearing compression socks can help prevent lower leg and ankle swelling. Wearing them can also reduce the likelihood of the rash by improving muscle recovery time and reducing vascular swelling.
  • Longer socks: EIV generally spares covered areas of skin, so avoid low-cut ankle socks.
  • Clothing with lightweight fabric: Experts recommend wearing thin athletic-style outfits that help keep the body cool to prevent overheating.
  • Comfortable and supportive shoes: Athletic sneakers are best, not sandals, dress flats, flip-flops, or flimsy sneakers. You want to pick shoes that will reduce stress on your muscles.

What can I do during amusement park days to prevent it?

When planning theme park days, most people try to squeeze in as many Disney rides and attractions as possible. However, keeping your health in mind is essential, or EIV may bring down a much-looked-forward-to trip.

Experts recommend incorporating the following healthy habits to reduce the possibility of getting the Disney rash:

  • Take breaks: Long days of walking and standing in ride lines in the Florida humidity is not easy on your body. Therefore, incorporating five or ten minutes of sit-down breaks to rest your legs during the day is essential.
  • Elevate your legs: When sitting down for meals or small breaks, elevate your legs, especially if regular exercise is not part of your daily routine.
  • Keep hydrated: Dehydration can make a person more prone to EIV. Bring a reusable water bottle to the parks and ask for complementary water and ice throughout the day. Disney allows you to bring outside food and drink, so pack electrolyte-packed beverages like Gatorade or Vitaminwater.
  • Mind your magnesium: Magnesium deficiency is common among Americans, and there is evidence that it can make people more prone to EIV. So take a magnesium supplement each morning or pack magnesium-rich coconut water to drink throughout the day.
  • Bring a mini-first aid kit: Many parkgoers put Band-Aids in their backpack in case of blisters. Make sure to add a small tube of hydrocortisone as well as over-the-counter pain relievers.

Disneyland’s record-breaking regular shares his wisdom from nearly 3,000 park visits in a row

I’ve gotten Disney rash; What should I do?

“Cooling down properly and avoiding overexertion are key interventions,” said Sherpa. “Apply an ice pack on the affected area and elevate your feet to improve circulation.”

Even if you’re in the park and have none of the recommended items in your bag, you can still treat a Disney rash immediately.

  • If you’re far from a first-aid station, ask the nearest restaurant or refreshment stand for ice to start immediate treatment.
  • If you can continue with your park day, cover the affected area to avoid additional sun exposure and apply a wet compress to the skin throughout the day to keep it cool.
  • Once you return to your accommodations, take a cold shower or bath and continue elevating your feet and legs.

According to Viktoryia Kazlouskaya, a board-certified dermatologist, only in rare instances is the rash severe and requires further attention from a doctor.

Don’t let Disney rash derail expensive trip

A basic Disney vacation for a family of four costs over $6,000 for transportation, lodging, food, and park tickets. With some preparation, a smartly packed suitcase, and a prepared park backpack, you’ll keep yourself and your family off the sidelines and in line for all the Disney rides and attractions you’ve dreamed of experiencing.

Top three Dollar Tree beauty accessories to avoid – it’s an ‘absolute disaster’ for $1.25... - The US Sun

ragamnyakabar.blogspot.com

A DOLLAR Tree expert has outlined the beauty accessories she thinks you should skip next time you’re shopping on a budget at the retailer.

Not all products are created equal, and while there are definitely tons of quality beauty items priced for cheap at the discount store, you need to avoid some or risk your experience being “an absolute disaster,” a TikToker shared.

TikToker Kim Nuzzolo (@KimNuzzolo) is a shopping guru that shares her best beauty dupes and fashion finds at affordable retailers like Dollar Tree.

Recently, the influencer had a word of warning for shoppers who might be trying to save a bit while looking for new products.

She said some items absolutely need to be avoided the next time you go to Dollar Tree.

These things are “not worth it,” according to the influencer.

Dollar Tree announces when discontinued family essential will likely return
Shoppers will see four new finds from Dollar Tree starting at $1.25

1. RUBBER BAND HAIR TIES

Kim said these hair ties break 'so easily'

While the $1.25 price may easily lure you in, Kim said to skip the Dollar Tree rubber band hair ties.

It’s because they break so easily, the shopper told followers.

A better alternative could be elastic hair ties or even scrunchies because they tend to be higher quality.

They won’t easily snap in two and will keep your hair supported more than with rubber bands.

Luckily, Dollar Tree does offer some scrunchies for cheap, so next time, go for quality over quantity.

2. FACIAL ICE ROLLER

This facial roller might not be your best choice, according to an influencer

Another product you should avoid, Kim said, is the facial ice roller at Dollar Tree.

The product says it is designed to help reduce redness and puffiness, but according to Kim, it won’t stay cold enough to adequately get the job done.

There are undeniable benefits to using a facial roller frequently, such as a slimmer face, increased blood flow and migraine relief.

However, it might be wiser to find one elsewhere for higher quality.

3. FACIAL HAIR REMOVER

Kim suggested avoiding this facial hair remover at Dollar Tree

Last but not least, make sure you avoid Dollar Tree’s facial hair remover, Kim said.

This product is an “absolute disaster” that “hurts skin,” the shopper claimed on TikTok.

Facial hair removers are said to emulate tweezers and shavers, but they grab multiple hairs at the same time and eliminate them from the root.

This process is said to make it so your hair takes longer to grow back, and you’ll retain that smooth, hairless look all across your face.

However, many frequently report skin irritation and redness as common side effects of these devices, so it’s best to invest in a high quality one instead of just going for the cheapest option.

SAVINGS AT DOLLAR TREE

Dollar Tree offers the vast majority of its products for just $1.25, easily making it one of the cheapest stores around for grocery or self-care products.

Cleaning supplies, baking goods, and toiletries are typically sold at significantly lower rates.

You can also find toys, party supplies, and health products to be some of the best deals.

Still, many other outlets offer surprising prices and sales, including Aldi and Walmart, especially if they’re unmarked clearance items.

There’s extra ways to boost your savings the next time you’re in any store though.

Look into cashback apps that offer rewards, as they can help you earn extra on groceries, toys and more.

Ibotta is one of the most popular ones to use, with the company claiming its users save an average of $150 per year.

There are roughly 8,000 Dollar Tree locations across the US and Canada.
